Louisiana's weekend of Nov. 7-8 opens with No. 15 LSU hosting No. 9 Alabama at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday in Tiger Stadium on ABC, then the Saints host the Cleveland Browns at noon Sunday at Caesars Superdome on CBS, with Beignet Fest, the Louisiana Renaissance Festival and Abbeville's Giant Omelette Celebration among the festivals in between.

Kickoff time and television for the Tiger Stadium game come from LSU Athletics and the SEC broadcast schedule. LSU's schedule page lists the Tigers as No. 15 and Alabama as No. 9 in the Associated Press poll. Both teams are at 6-2 after idle weeks, and the kickoff announcement calls Saturday the first daytime kickoff for the series in Baton Rouge since 2010. Stadium gates open two hours before kickoff under LSU's gameday rules, and the clear-bag policy still applies. For parking maps, lot times and a fuller fan guide, see our LSU-Alabama preview.

Sunday belongs to the Black and Gold at home. The Saints' 2026 schedule release and current schedule page put Cleveland at Caesars Superdome at noon CT on Nov. 8 on CBS, with radio on WWL 105.3 FM / 870 AM. It's the first of back-to-back home noon games after the team's Week 8 bye, with Carolina due the following Sunday.

Basketball fans get a quieter Saturday. The Pelicans' schedule had New Orleans hosting Minnesota on Friday night at Smoothie King Center, with no game Saturday and a road tip against the Los Angeles Clippers at 8 p.m. CST Sunday at Intuit Dome in Inglewood.

Festivals fill the gaps between kickoffs. Beignet Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the New Orleans City Park Festival Grounds. The festival's ticket page lists day-of general admission at $25 plus tax and fees, while supplies last, with children 10 and under free with an adult. Vendors compete in traditional, sweet and savory beignet categories, and the festival says proceeds support local autism programs for children and families.

North of Lake Pontchartrain, the Louisiana Renaissance Festival continues its fall weekends at 46468 River Road in Hammond. The festival lists Nov. 7 and 8 as Fae & Fantasy Weekend, rain or shine, and says it was founded by veterans and built for families. Gates open at 9 a.m., and the festival closes at 5 p.m. Its tickets page says adult admission (age 13 and up) is $31.18 plus tax, child admission (ages 6-12) is $15.74 plus tax, children 5 and under are free, and tickets are date-specific and sold online, with the festival covering booking and processing fees aside from tax.

In Acadiana, the Giant Omelette Celebration marks its 42nd year Nov. 7 and 8 in historic downtown Abbeville around Magdalen Square. The festival's schedule page puts Saturday's arts and crafts show, food show and antique implement viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with music through the afternoon and the tractor egg-cracking competition at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's cooking of the 5,000-egg omelette follows a 1 p.m. procession of chefs and eggs; the home page says that main cooking is Sunday afternoon only. Vermilion Parish Tourism lists admission as free. General information is at 337-344-9232.

Outdoors, Saturday is also Youth and Veterans Waterfowl Day in the West Zone, a one-day duck hunt open to young hunters, veterans and active-duty service members ahead of the regular West Zone opener on Nov. 14. Across high school football, the regular season ends this weekend, and our earlier guide covers how the LHSAA sets the playoff brackets once Sunday's pairings come out. Veterans Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11, so early observances and weekend festivals both sit on the calendar this week. Find more Louisiana stories in Top News.
